Training Russian martial arts in Europe.
Rules by which to fight in the street do not exist - so the practice should be based on that fact. In our approach we pay a lot of attention to developing striking techniques that use the whole body, and learn to hit from any position. Do not under estimate the importance of the ability to fall correctly. Our students learn to fall on any surface to reduce the risk of injuries from falling on hard surfaces. By practicing fighting against multiple opponents you will no longer be surprised should you be attacked by more than one opponent. Our training methods normalise the act of fighting through sparring and unique exercises of the Russian Style. Our focus is on natural and economic movements. Students learn to move correctly without unnecessary movements and to choose the correct position no matter what the
threat. Fighting in a confined space is an important skill that many martial arts do not
address. The Russian style teaches students how to work against a wall, any other obstacle or even whilst sitting on a chair.
Use of boxing gloves for sparring, training knives, sticks and other items are part of every lesson. During our lessons students work with and without weapons. Learning to use any item at hand as an improvised weapon is crucial skill for anyone training for self defence. This includes everyday items such as belts, wallets, keys and books.
Self defence on the street has always been our goal!
Our main goal in training is not to cheat ourselves. Our actions in training have to be honest
and
work in real life. We must train to deal against punches, kicks, grappling, weapons
and multiple attackers. Only in this way we will be ready in life for anything, because it has
already been addressed in training!
An important principle in our training is we specifically include exercises as close to real situations as safely possible. We teach a strategy of mixed battle. When there is fighting we strike and grapple at the same time.
During the summer we must train in the countryside. This is because the street has already become a familiar environment for us. To be comfortable in the streets it is necessary to have the knowledge, skills and behaviour that is necessary to avoid an attack, defuse tensions, conflict and neutralise both armed and unarmed opponents. Through training,
we acquire self-confidence, health, stamina, and can handle any situation.
